Brianne Oehmke

Brianne’s passion for the outdoor began with the program known as “Quest” at Bloomsburg University. She was introduced to a variety of outdoor recreational activities including white water rafting, climbing, backpacking and caving. Brianne focused on climbing and caving during her college years. She led a multi-day caving trip to West Virginia and an extended climbing trip to North Carolina. She did trail maintenance with North West Youth Corps and was an extended trip leader with Camp Thunderbird. Since graduating in 2009 she has continued to broaden her outdoor skills and knowledge. She worked at Alta Ski Area in Utah during the winter and worked as a White Water Rafting Guide in Moab. Also in Utah, she worked as a Wilderness Therapy Guide.
She enjoyed working as the Case Manager/Program Specialist at Yellow Breeches Educational Center. YBEC is a private academic school that uses a highly adventure based curriculum to reach special education students with emotional problems that are at risk of failing in the traditional academic setting.
Coming full circle, Brianne is currently the new Staff Development Coordinator for the Quest program at Bloomsburg Universtiy.
In her free time, Brianne enjoys taking advantage of the outdoors as much as possible. Last year she summited a multitude of mountains from the Catskills, Adirondacks, to the Cascades including Mt. Hood and Mt. Rainier. This year she did a winter ascent of Mt. Washington and plans to summit more mountains during the summer. In the Fall of 2014, she plans to row the Grand Canyon.
