Garrett Werner

Garrett found his passion for the outdoor industry early on with experiences through the Boy Scouts of America. For Garrett, just going on trips with his scout troop was never enough; he jumped right into planning and figuring out how to make trips more effective and impactful for his peers. He went right into outdoor education earning an Associates in Adventure Sports from Garrett College and a Bachelors from Frostburg State University in Parks and Recreation Management. Garrett is currently starting his Masters in Environmental Education through Slippery Rock University. He has spent time guiding climbing and wilderness expeditions all over the US including New Mexico, California, New Hampshire and West Virgina. In 2011, he completed a successful through hike with his wife of the Pacific Crest Trail.

Garrett currently works as Program Specialist at Yellow Breeches Educational Center. YBEC is a private academic school that uses a highly adventure based curriculum to reach special education students with emotional problems that are at risk of failing in the traditional academic setting.

Some of Garrett’s prouder accomplishments in the Outdoors are: Winter Presidential Traverse in the White Mountains, 43 miles in one day on the PCT, 12 pitch route “Magic Dragon” in the California Needles, Mountaineers Rout on Mount Whitney, California and taking his 2 year old on climbing outings with the family.
