Clydesdale Horseback Riding, Bonfire & Craft Brew Tasting
Our destination for the day is Long Valley, NJ, located in the forested foothills of the Schooleys Mountain where we will meet a herd of almost 30 Clydesdale horses. Often referred to as “Gentle Giants,” these horses are stunning in shape, size and demeanor. The well-kept hairy white socks and feathered legs are telltale signs of Clydesdale genetics.
Upon arrival, we will be greeted with a tour of the farm and stables during which we will learn about how the Gentle Giants are boarded and trained. Before saddling up and hitting the trail, we will be introduced to the Clydesdale herd and enter the arena where we will receive a safety overview and have an opportunity to test ride and learn how to drive them in a controlled environment. You will literally appreciate the horsepower the Clydesdale packs and you will be impressed with the gentle, rhythmic motion of their strides.
We will then be guided by wranglers for an hour long trail ride along a breathtaking, tree-covered trail that skims the banks of the South Branch of the Raritan River.
Following the enchanting ride, we will head down the road to a historic 200 year old restored barn, which is home to a local brew pub. We will enjoy a wonderful lunch and a refreshing tasting of their various award winning craft brews while admiring the craftsmanship of the master carpenter responsible for the immaculate barn restoration. We will conclude this epic day with a cozy bonfire on the banks of a lake where we will have s’mores for desert while we reminisce about the day’s adventures. This Clydesdale Horseback Riding Adventure will change the way you think of New Jersey!
